CONTENT MANAGEMENT

March 31, 2017 By Garth Lategan Leave a Comment

This is the selection of appropriate topics, formats and presenters to achieve the communication objectives and educational obligations of the event project. This is the development of material that will be used in the course of the event.

In order to have the best content for your event, consider the following factors

Objectives and obligations

You begin by determining the purpose of the event and reviewing the goals, which helps you to understand what to communicate to the people attending the event. Be specific with the communication and learning objectives you want to achieve to help identify the needs and interests you might have. Analyse and keep up with current trends in the markets to remain relevant and appropriate to the event.

Learning principles

Recognise various learning styles and strategies to implement in the event. This helps cover a wide range of audience with different strategies. It is also important to incorporate adult learning principles. Continuing education and accreditation requirements must be specified clearly. Content delivery assessment methods must be developed.

Topic and Format Selection

In order to have the best topics covered during the event, you must specify the content scope and topics requirements. Understanding the nature and range of the events helps determine the topics you are going to cover. The format is also important to consider based on the target audience. They must be identified and evaluated to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure you have selected an appropriate delivery system that is effective according to your needs. Also, ensure that you track the program effectively.

Speaker Selection

The speaker you select is dependent upon the types of content delivery personnel you determine. Once you understand the personnel then you look for speakers and presentations. The speakers are identified based upon the needs and the target audience that are at the event. If it is a motivation speaker, entertainment performer or just a public speaker, they must be selected properly. Ensure you secure and incorporate support services as needed by the speakers. Having the right speakers at an event is critical as the audience will leave if they are bored. People want to feel the value for their money which motivates them to come to another event.

Speaker Arrangements

Manage the contracts that are agreed upon by the speakers. Ensure they fulfil their end of the contract and that you manage the relationship agreed upon by you and the speaker. Arrange for logistics and hospitality requirements for the speakers. It can be included in the contract that there are arrangements for hospitality and other logistics for the speakers. Establish and enforce intellectual property rights. The rights protect the speakers and what they are going to say during the event. Speaker product marketing activities must also be managed effectively.

Content management is a critical aspect of your organisation as it helps to incorporate and find balance in all activities that lead to a successful event.
